More than one hundred passengers, mainly Bulgarians working in European Union institutions in Brussels, were forced to change plans after Bulgaria Air carrier unexpectedly cancelled its flight to Sofia on Sunday.
The passengers, heading for Bulgaria to spend their summer holidays here, grumbled that the air carrier did not give them a proper advance notice, but informed them of the cancellation just two days before the scheduled flight, local 24 Hours reports.
Bulgaria Air CEO Dimitar Pavlov tried to assuage concerns, saying that all passengers will fly aboard Monday's flight. He insisted that the schedule was changed more than fourteen days ago, as required by EU regulations, and blamed wrong telephone contacts for failing to warn the passengers well in advance.
Bulgaria's national airline carrier is the only company to service a direct flight from the Belgium to the Bulgarian capital.
