Bulgarian football champions Levski Sofia kicked off the new football season with a victory, defeating Litex Lovech in the Bulgarian Supercup 2-1 after extra time.

Levski's French midfielder Cedric Bardon opened the scoring in the 13th minute completely against the run of play.

Litex were the better team in the first half but failed to convert its domination into goals.

Levski evened the contest in the second half, but the scored remained unchanged despite chances for both sides.

Litex equalised in the first minute of added time through Brazilian forward Beto, who caught Levski's defence napping and scored from inside the six-yard box.

Both teams picked up the tempo in the extra time, finally delivering the excitement the fans of both teams have been waiting for from the start of the match.

Levski's Nigerian midfielder Richard Eromoigbe scored the decider in the 109th minute, with goalkeeper Georgi Petkov producing a fantastic save with two minutes left to avoid a penalty shoot-out.
