Bulgarian Trade Unions, Employers Start Talks on Wage Hikes

Politics | July 3, 2007, Tuesday // 00:00

Representatives of Bulgaria's main trade union and employer associations will meet on Tuesday to start talks on wage hikes in the private sector.

Representatives of trade unions KNSB and Podkrepa will meet with six employer associations to negotiate wage hikes in the non-service industries.

The trade unions claim that employers have been shirking their duties under the agreement signed by the two parties.

Emboldened by their recent successes in securing higher salaries in several state-run companies, KNSB and Podkrepa plan to ask the employers in the private sector to agree on a scheduled timetable of wage hikes.
