A concert to remember took place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening to mark the 46th anniversary since deceased Lady Diana's birth.

Elton John, Take That and Rod Stewart were among the stars, who joined the event, organized by the princess' two sons.

More than 65,000 spectators came to the stadium and to render homage to the people's princess.

"We wanted to have this big concert, full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted," Prince William said. "And on her birthday as well - it's got to be the best birthday present she ever had."

When the laughter faded, Sir Elton performed "Candle in the Wind," his tune to Marilyn Monroe that he retooled to sing at Diana's funeral after the Paris car crash on August 31, 1997.
