Newly Appointed Sofia ER Hospital Manager Threatens to Sack Protesting Doctors

One of the newly appointed members of the board of directors of the Sofia ER hospital Pirogov has threatened to sack the protesting doctors, Sveltozar Ivanov, leader of the protest committee said on Friday.

The first threat that The newly appointed managed Emil Takov addressed the first threat to Doctor Stefan Milanov and Doctor Yordan Traykov.

They were called in to Takov's office, where he told them that if he sees any protesting doctors on Monday, all of them would be sacked, according to Ivanov.

The head of the hospital Spas Spaskov has demanded to get a list the protesting doctors' names. This was seen as heavy pressure on the doctors, Ivanov added.

Earlied this week the ER hospital staff was allowed to go on effective strike. The doctors, nurses and paramedics demand higher salaries and change of hospital's statute that will allow it to receive state financing.
