Bulgarian Businessmen Question Death of Basketball Club CSKA's CEO, President

Crime | June 28, 2007, Thursday // 00:00

A group of Bulgarian businessmen sent a letter Thursday to Europol and Interpol claiming that Emil Cohen, CEO of basketball club CSKA, and its president Vladimir Fedyaev, who died in a car crash, have faked their own deaths.

Cohen and Fedyaev were reported dead after a heavy crash in western France on Sunday. The information was not immediately confirmed. According to reports, the driver of the Bulgarian car crashed into a bus some sixty kilometres north of the town of Rennes.

The businessmen believe the two have faked their own deaths to avoid prosecution and hide from their creditors, because Cohen and Fedyaev have carried out a number of heavy financial frauds.

Until now the known financial damage to several Bulgarian companies amounts BGN 7.5 M, according to the letter, which was also sent to Bulgaria's Interior, Forewing and Justice Ministries, the Prosecutor's Office, the Bulgarian Embassy in France and the French Embassy in Bulgaria.

The deceived businessmen said the news for Cohen and Fedyaev's death came in a moment when the defrauded persons sought the protection of their rights. The letter asks the authorities for a through DNA analysis and all medical ways used for identifying the bodies. The businessmen also ask for a thorough investigation into the financial assets and deals of the two "dead" individuals.
