Nera Networks, the Norwegian leading company in wireless telecommunications using microwave and satellite technology, signed Friday a framework agreement on the construction of the second phase of the communications network of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry.
The agreement was signed by Interior Minister Roumen Petkov and Norway's NERA Networks President and CEO Lars Jervan.
The two also signed a memorandum of acceptance of the implementation of the first phase of the network. The project is funded by the Government of Norway pursuant to a bilateral agreement.
The flagman of the unique WiMAX wireless technology in Bulgaria decided to expand its presence in Bulgaria last year after a successful launch of activities in September 2006.
Nera Networks settled its Sofia-based office at Platinum Business Center and plans to turn it into an all-region covering business consultancy and operational centre.
Nera Networks solutions and WiMAX products have already been successfully implemented on a big scale in several European countries where licenses were granted, such as the UK, Italy, Denmark, Norway and Poland.
Based in Norway, Nera Transmission specializes in design, development, manufacture, sales, installation and operation of Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint wireless equipment, for mobile, high-capacity-long-haul and fixed wireless access applications.
