Bulgarian Priest Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of 2 Underage Girls, Left in Prison

The Regional Court in Bulgaria's city of Plovdiv decided to leave behind bars the clergyman, arrested April 27 for sexually abusing two underage girls.

The 55-year-old Emil Miliyonov was the parish priest of three villages around the town of Parvomai. The parents of one of the victims, both at the age of 13 lodged a complaint against the priest in the local court.

It found the defendant guilty although his lawyer claimed none of the parents accused him of the crime.

The ruling is final and could not be a subject to appeal.
