Bulgaria's Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski said Thursday before the protesting medics that Sofia ER Pirogov hospital has received the biggest subsidies so far.
"There are a total of 260 hospitals across Bulgaria and all of them need to be adequately financed," Gaydarski added.
The minister as well as the hospital's employees said they are wondering what the granted BGN 50 M has been used for so far.
"There was conducted an audit and the results are to be presented very soon," Gaydarski announced.
The medics demanded the resignations of the hospital's board of directors as they impede performing effective strike actions.
The meeting between the health minister and the doctors was held at the time of their protest rally against the low payment staged Thursday afternoon.
Protest declarations were handed to the Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, the Speaker of the Parliament Georgi Pirinski, the chairman of the parliamentary commission on health care Borislav Kitov as well as to Minister Gaydarski himself.
