The number of Bulgarian and Romanian migrants to the Netherlands has sharply increased in the four months since the accession of the two countries to the European Union, official data shows.
A total of 2800 migrants from the two new members of the European bloc were registered in the Netherlands from January to April, nearly two times more than the figures for the entire 2006, data of the country's Central Statistics Office shows.
Bulgarians account for a bigger part of the migrants' flux - 1900 against 900 Romanians. As far as sex balance is concerned, women prevail over men and account for 60% of all.
