700 Tons of Used Paper Burned to Ashes in Bulgarian Village

Crime | June 11, 2007, Monday // 00:00

A huge fire has broken out in a warehouse in the Bulgarian seaside village of Izvor in the late hours of Sunday night, Darik News reported.

Around 700 tons of used paper packed in bales was engulfed in flames. The fire fighters have started extinguishing the fire minutes after they received the emergency signal, but the thickness of the burning material is making the work more difficult.

According to the owner of the paper, a 40-year-old Sofia trader, the damages from the fire would cost him at least BGN 100,000.

The fire brigades are still trying to put out the flames. Police are now investigating the case.
