The municipality of Pazardzhik, which was hit by torrential rains over the night, declared a state of emergency Wednesday morning.

Elderly people were evacuated as all 180 houses in the village of Gelemenovo were totally or partly demolished by the rains, the water level going up as high as 1,50 meters.

Another three villages in the region were partly flooded.
