Bulgaria Prosecutors' Office Investigates 15 Crime Group Leaders - Report

Bulgarian Prosecutors' Office is currently investigating 15 leaders of organized crime groups, the data from the annual prosecutor report for 2006 showed.

Another 14 trials are led against MPs and magistrates, three officials working in the executive system bodies were sentenced, the report shows.

Chief prosecutor Boris Velchev has demanded ten MPs to be stripped of their immunity in 2006. Against these same ten MPs are led a total of 14 trials in which another 20 magistrates are involved.

The report states that in the past year the level of receiving bribes and police violence has remained unchanged.
