Dozens of French Sentenced over Sarkozy's Election Riots

Dozens of French citizens were sentenced over using force on police officials at the riots staged after Sarkozy was elected the new president of the country.

Seven men, aged between 20 and 35, who threw stones against the policemen, were given up to six-month jail sentences in the port city of Bordeaux.

One month in prison will spend eight students from the city of Toulouse.

Another seven people from Marseille were released on bail until the next hearing on the trial, brought against them on October 17.

During the protests, which took place in the night after Sarkozy won the precidency dozens of cars were set on fire in the Paris' suburbs.

There were also thrown explosives in the yards of many kindergartens and schools in the same areas.
