Turkey Decides to Build Nuclear Plants Again

Turkey's Parliament has decided yet again that the country is to start building nuclear power plants on its territory.

The plants will be built after tenders that would be accessible to mixed companies representing both the state and the private sector. Experts are sceptical, though, for Turkey has many times announced its intentions to build NPPs in the past but never went through with it.

The country's first Nuclear Power Plant should be operational by 2012, the government plans. A total of three plants should be ready by 2016, for about USD 7-8B.
