An honorary vice president of Chelsea football club is believed to be among the four people aboard the helicopter that went missing early on Wednesday after taking off from Liverpool.
Phillip Carter was chief executive of Carter & Carter Group Plc and a Chelsea Football Club supporter, who was returning from the team's match against Liverpool last night, Sky News reported.
Liverpool beat Chelsea in a penalty shootout at Anfield stadium to advance to the Champions League final.
A Carter spokeswoman told Bloomberg agency that she couldn't confirm that he was on board.
Authorities found the crash site near Peterborough in central England. The aircraft was reported missing at 1:45 a.m. after failing to arrive at a home in Thornhaugh, near Peterborough, Cambridgeshire police said in a statement.
The Eurocopter Twin Squirrel helicopter left Liverpool's John Lennon Airport at 11:40 p.m., and the last contact with it was at 12:45 a.m., police said.
"The area is being cordoned off to allow search and rescue teams to deal with the scene,'' police said.
The identities of the passengers were not disclosed.
