Bulgaria's Supreme Cassation Court has reduced the sentence of a policeman who ran over a whole family of three killing them all in Sofia.

Kiril Malinov saw his sentence reduced from 13 to 10 years in jail, despite the fact that he was intoxicated when he ran the three over at a zebra and then sped away. He turned himself in five hours after the accident that took place on October 24, 2003.

Six-year-old Borislava, her mother Snezhana (26) and her father Ivan (31) were all killed on the spot.

Sofia City Court sentenced Malinov to a 13-year stay behind bars on June 6, 2005. The court of Appeals reduced the sentence to ten years and it has now been reconfirmed and cannot be appealed again.

The tragic car crash sparked an outcry of protests from residents in the Druzhba district, where it took place, and a traffic light was also placed at the zebra.
