Traditional Turkish Delicacies at Hand in Sofia's Piccadilly Stores

Tastes and savours from all over Turkey can be found at hand in Sofia's Piccadilly chain of stores starting from Saturday.

The gourmet week will be opened on Saturday at 6 p.m. with a special food event. Culinary products of sophisticated taste and creativity with exquisite taste will be offered for degustation within the event opened until April 29. Special guest at the opening will be the Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria Mehmed Tugrul Giudjuk.

The initiative is one of the many within national cuisine's representative Days of People's Cuisine and it will offer floor to lovers of cooking as well.They will be invited to try the typical meals Imam Bayalda (the imam fainted), pilaw and baklava. It will be interesting for the visitors to know that many of the Turkish meals are very good for healthy nutrition.

Most of the meals are prepared with olive oil, wild vegetables, diet meat and yoghurt. Visitors can buy the typical Turkish delight, molasses, baklava, khalva, treacle, olives and olive oil at lower prices.

The culinary days of various culture and nations in Piccadilly will spread all through 2007, except from July and August. Delicacies from Bavarian, American, Spanish, Greek, French, Central European and Asian cuisines will take turns on the store's stalls, inviting customers with a sea of tastes and many surprises.

Piccadilly is part of Mall of Sofia, the largest shopping, business and entertainment center in Bulgaria, which opened for business at the beginning of June 2006.

The shopping centre covers 1800 sq m of gross area including 1300 sq m retail floor area. Piccadilly has invested more than BGN 2 M in the shop, creating as many 80 jobs for the locals.

Piccadilly chain includes six supermarkets in the Black Sea town of Varna, two in Sofia, one in Burgas and one in Veliko Tarnovo.
