3 Companies Bid to Overhaul Sofia Airport Surroundings

Three companies have submitted bids to carry out the face-lift of the area surrounding the Sofia airport before Monday's deadline, Bulgaria's Transport Ministry said on Tuesday.

The consortium of Flight-Glavbolgarstroy and GBS Infrastructure Construction put forth the lowest cost offer, at EUR 6,16 M.

The other two bids came from Patishta I Mostove Varna and Building Development Holding.

The ministry did not specify when it would announce the winner of the tender.

The chosen bidder will have to restore the surroundings of the airport, which have suffered from its drawn-out expansion and the construction of a new passenger terminal.

The main focus of the project is to expand the green spaces and build recreational areas.
