A glacier on the Livingston Island, the Antarctic was named after the Bulgarian town Berkovitza, mayor of the town Milcho Dotzov announced on Tuesday.

Thte glacier is 5 kilometres wide and 3 kilometres long. It is situated between the Oriahovo heights and the Snow Peak and flows out in the bay of the Hero between Avitohol and Remetalk Peaks.

The name of Berkovitza town on the map of the Antarctic contributes for making popular the Bulgarian scientific and clerical presence on the ice continent, Dotzov said upon delivering the news.
