Macedonian Daily: Bulgarian Eurovision Song is Plagiarism

Politics | March 9, 2007, Friday // 00:00

Macedonian daily "Evening" claims that the captivating song of the drum duo Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankulov, which is to represent Bulgaria at 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, is a pure plagiarism.

The newspaper said "at least some parts of the composition reminded of the typical Macedonian rhythm".

According to the daily, the fact that the artists themselves are the song's composers, confirms the melody has been "stolen".

The author of the article, called "Water" - Bulgarian Song or a Loot One, is unknown.

There are no immediate official comments on the publication from the people, engaged with the contest's organization.

MTV announced they should first check if the accusations are justified.

If it is proved the song is a plagiarism, Elitsa and Stoyan could be excluded from the contestant's final list.

Bulgaria chose February 24 the artists, who will represent the country on the Eurovision finals in Helsinki, Finland.
