Bulgarian Pimp Sentenced to 11 Months in Prison

Crime | March 6, 2007, Tuesday // 00:00

The regional court in Bulgaria's town of Sliven sentenced Tuesday the pimp Dobrin Shopov to 11-month imprisonment for incitement to prostitution of girls in the Netherelands.

Shopov was also imposed a BGN 500 fine.

The convicted man was "responsible" for two Bulgarian girls in Amsterdam for a year.

The 27-year-old Ivayla Mitkova and Kera Dimova, 26, were forced to "provide" sexual services, giving a certain percentage of the profit to the pimp.

In December 2005, he said BGN 80,000 was stolen from his safe.

Shopov beat up Ivayla Mitkova with a wooden chair and threatened to kill her if she refused to work until paying back the missing amount.
