Police is hunting down suspects for the murder of businessman Assen Nikolov, who was killed by a bomb blast in August last year.
Sources, close to the investigation, told Darik News that Nikolov owed huge sums to spedition firms and grain traders and ties with them were pretty strained lately.
It was his feisty attitude and failure to pay off his debts that drew the anger of the business partners, the sources disclosed.
Assen Nikolov, who won the Evrika young manager's award for 2005, was killed by a bomb blast in August last year while entering the apartment block he lived in. There have been doubts about whether he mistakenly detonated the device himself, or it was detonated by a remote control.
Although Bulgaria's Interior revealed that there had been several investigations against him, Assen Nikolov was known as a major grain and cereals trader in the region.
