Minister: No Healthcare Chaos in Bulgaria

Politics | February 28, 2007, Wednesday // 00:00

Bulgaria's Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski said there is no chaos in the healthcare system on a Wednesday parliamentary session.

"Where do you see the mess? There is such a thing only in the heads of those, who want to find it in this sphere," the minister announced.

He blamed the former right-wing cabinet of Ivan Kostov on the crisis.

"Your government managed to sell 46 health centres, including some specialized hospitals," Gaydarski said to the present opposition.

In his statement, the minister introduced to the MPs the present situation of the health sphere and mentioned that 95% of the hospitals and 80% of the general practitioners have resigned their annual contract with the National Health Fund.

The crisis in Bulgaria's healthcare system has provoked continuing waves of discontent among the health officials all around the country.
