Democrats for Strong Bulgaria leader Ivan Kostov and the deputy ultra-nationalists' head Pavel Shopov demonstratively walked out of the Tuesday meeting of the National Security Consultative Council.

"This Council does not help reaching a national agreement on key problems such as the Bulgarian-Russian relations," the rightist Kostov explained.

"Bulgarian army serves only foreign interests," Ataka's deputy leader Shopov said.

He announced quite ironically that there are no problems in the army simply because there is no army at all.

The council's session was summoned in order the course of the army's professionalizing to be discussed.

It was the first sitting, convened by the President Georgi Parvanov since he was re-elected for the post.
