Sofia Mayor's GERB party has named one of their MEP candidates - an engineer from the Nuclear Power Plant in Kozloduy.
Borissov hopes to land Vladimir Uruchev, Units 1-4 Chief Engineer, in the European Parliament, so he can lobby for the fate for the recently closed Units 3&4.
Uruchev's candidacy was put forward by local organizations of the association in Northwestern Bulgaria.
"I will help his candidacy be placed in a favourable region in order for him to work in the cause of the two units" Borisov said at a meeting of the GERB's supporters in the region.
The issue about the forthcoming referendum on the construction of a low- and mid-level radioactive waste depot in the Danube town was also discussed. "I think that the depot should be constructed at the location of the plant," Boyko Borisov said and explained if locals protest this, MEPs could use the fact in favour of their stand on the closing of the two 440 MW Units.
