Saddam Deputy's Sentence Upped to Death by Hanging

An Iraqi court decided Monday to punish even further Saddam Hussein's vice president and upped his sentence from life in prison to death by hanging. Taha Yassin Ramadan was sued for the Shiite killings in the Iraqi town of Dujail. The previous sentence was too lenient, the court stated. Former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was executed December 30 and his death caused ripples of discontent among world leaders, who called for the abolishment of death sentences.
