Bulgarian police arrested the killer of the taxi driver, who was murdered in the early hours of Friday.
The murderer is the 27-year-old Sofia citizen Georgi Peykov.
He made full written confessions after the arrest and even took police to the place where he had thrown the knife with which he stabbed the taxi driver.
Peykov hired the cab in downtown Sofia to take him to Lyulin neighbourhood. When he saw the bill of BGN 15, he realised he didn't have the money and tried to escape. The driver Emil Emilov attempted to stop him but the killer took out a knife and stabbed the driver in the stomach. Than ran away.
Emilov died minutes later, still driving the car, which at the moment of his death bumped into a street bin.
The murderer was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
Peykov was found and arrested in less than 12 hours.
During the whole day taxis blocked Sofia as drivers gathered to protest in the wake of the murder of their colleague last night. The taxi drivers demanded legislative guarantees for their security at work.
