Bulgaria's Border Police Saves Turkish Ship

Border marine police in Bulgaria's seaside Burgas city saved a destitute Turkish fishing ship, Darik News reported.

Officials working at the visual and technical surveillance post of the border police near Durankulak noticed a Turkish ship that moved very slowly, with 2-3 knots from north to south.

As this slow speed is not typical for this class of ships, officials decided to make a routine check.

On board of the vessel police found two Turkey citizens, who were travelling from Romania to their home country. They were drifting on the water because the ship engine broke and they didn't have radio connection or food.

The ship was taken in tow to the nearest port Nessebar.

The two fishermen told the border police they were robbed in Romanian port Mangalia and thieves took their money, GPS, spare parts and personal stuff.

They have asked to be taken to the Turkey Consulate in Burgas.
