Quake Shakes Southeast Turkey, Dozens Injured in Panic

At least 28 people were injured in southeastern Turkey after it was struck by an earthquake, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale.

The epicentre of the earthquake was registered in the town of Silivre, in the province of Elazig, the Istanbul-based based Kandilli Observatory said. It struck at 04:22 a.m. (0222 GMT).

Panic has been blamed for the casualties. The people were injured as they fled their home, jumped from balconies and windows.
