Five British airports were closed because of the heavy snowfall that buried the country on Thursday. The closed airports are those in Luton, Stansted, Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham. Some of the flights at Heathrow Airport in London were also cancelled. Gatwick Airport closed several of its runs as they have been covered with snow. The Midland Mainline train service has cancelled some evening trains out of London due to the poor meteorological conditions. Hundreds of schools in Wales and Central England did not open their doors for the students. The severe weather in England, Wales and Northern Ireland could incur losses set at millions of pounds.
