Motorist, Animal Rights Group Suspected behind UK Letter Bombs

Police suspects a disgruntled motorist or a militant animal rights organisation to have plotted two letter bombs that exploded in the last two days in London and Berkshire, the Guardian reported. Two people were injured on Tuesday after a letter bomb exploded in a business centre in Berkshire, southern England. This was the second such attack in two days, after one woman was injured Monday by a letter bomb in a London office. Police are investigating a possible link with other devices sent last month in Thames Valley and in the West Midlands which are thought to be connected with an animal rights protest. The three incidents, which took place on January 18 and 19, involved crude explosive devices contained in Jiffy bags. The devices had apparently been sent by the same person and one of the envelopes referred to Barry Horne, the animal rights activist who died in 2001 while serving an 18-year jail sentence for a firebombing campaign directed at organisations involved with animal experimentation.
