Two Bulgarian citizens were arrested on the Dakar Airport, Senegal, for their attempt to sneak 10 kg of cocaine, local newspaper Quotidien Le Soleil reported.
Ivan Todorov and Anna Popova apparently presumed the airport's security measures were not strict and tried to transport the cocaine hidden in small packets in their luggage.
The two Bulgarians were travelling to Guinea in the company of an English speaking Nigerian as their guide, the three of them pretending to be on a tourist trip.
When interrogated by the Dakar police, the two Bulgarians confessed for the crime their guilt and even said they had to receive EUR 4000 if they transported the cocaine to Bulgaria.
Senegal's chief prosecutor demanded the Bulgarians to be sentenced to five years in prison. The court is expected to pronounce the sentences on February 5.
