Bulgaria's freshly minted party GERB announced its candidates for EP members for the elections this summer at a conference on Saturday.

Dushana Zdravkova was nominated by Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov , informal leader of GERB, to be the head of party's election ticket.

Zdravkova covers all of GERB's requirements for leader of the ticket and has the needed qualities to represent Bulgaria in front of the European Parliament, Borissov believes.

GERB's requirements for the candidates were to have at least a one-month practice in a EU member state and experience in working for international institutions. Candidates must not have criminal record. GERB members also discussed to introduce a declaration, which the candidate must sign in order to prove he/she has not collaborated with Bulgaria's former secret services.

MEP candidates must also have a good command of two foreign languages.

The party stands great chances of sending at least four deputies in the European Parliament, according to Borissov. He himself will be the chairman of the election headquarters.
