Bulgarian Police Stave Off Bomb Assault

Bulgarian police have found a hand made bomb in the home of a citizen from the Black Sea's city of Varna.

The bomb contained 400 grams of T.N.T. and had a remote control, police reported.

Police got an anonymous signal on November 11, 2006 that a certain person in Varna keeps a bomb in his home and is preparing to use it do deliver a blow against somebody. The reason, according to the anonymous caller, was connected with division of the drug market.

At first police did not know where the bomb was located, but several days after the anonymous call, the bomber moved the explosive and special forces could intersect it.

After a perquisiton the bomb was found and the man arrested. Police also confiscated two detonators, batteries, a magnet to tackle the bomb and a remote control for the bomb detonation.

Police are now further investigating the case.
