The long and fierce feud between Economy and Energy Minister Rumen Ovcharov and Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov seems to have reached a stage of temporary truce.

Ovcharov and Borissov came to an agreement Monday to do their best to help the new management of the Toplofikatsia heating utility in the capital. The two finally shook hands after months of bickering, hoping that by working together they may help the company's new head Nasko Mihov start bringing the utility back to its feet.

Mihov has to start right away on the restructuring of the company, and he needs our vote of confidence to do that, Borissov said.

The Ministry and the Municipality have agreed to put together a team of experts and audit the companies that dealt with Toplofikatsia's accounts. To add to the pressure, the Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the company, based on various media reports. Prosecutors will be looking into overchanrged bills and other such violations.

The heating utility was found to be on the brink of bankruptcy when scandals of its former head Valentin Dimitrov surfaced. Dimitrov, who is now tried on accusations of embezzlement and money laundry, has squandered away company money on spa and massage equipment according to the prosecution.
