In-laws Kidnap Divorce-Seeking Roma in Bulgaria

Рђn 18-year-old man of Roma descent has alerted the police in Bulgaria's southern city of Haskovo that he had been kidnapped by his own in-laws.

Stoyan Donchev wanted to divorce his wife Yordanka, 22, because he had caught her in bed with a 80-year-old man. Fearing that this may bring dishonour to his family, the teenager decided to leave his wife and their child, according to Darik News.

Donchev had already gathered up BGN 22,000 from his car-dealership business that he was going to give his new chosen bride's family as Roma traditions have it. He planned on "buying up" his second wife on Monday, but Yordanka's father and brothers found out what he had in store.

They forced him into a car and took him back to his current wife, where he tricked them and escaped. He called the police and said he would sue his father-in-law Atanas Atanassov, who had already served a sentence for killing a man.
