A flat, owned by Sofia municipality, will temporarily accommodate the family of the girl, who was heavily injured in the hellish bus crash near the town of Byala at the beginning of December.

The father of the seven-year-old Mihaela asked for help at a meeting with Sofia mayor Boyko Borisov on Friday.

The girl survived the crash but is in need of long-term medical treatment in Sofia.

Eighteen people were killed on December 7 when a city bus collided with a truck and plunged into a river near the town of Byala.

The city bus was taking passengers to a railway station when the truck slammed into it. Both vehicles plunged 10 metres into the Yantra River.
