Bulgaria Bakes At Least 2 Electricity Hikes in 2007
Business | January 9, 2007, TuesdayThe predicted increase is due to bulging prices of gas, influenced mainly by the disturbed supplies of gas from Russia to Western Europe. Gas is the predominant fuel used in Bulgarian heating utility companies.
SEWRC chief Konstantin Shushulov said Tuesday the exact percentage of the hike is further to be discussed.
Since the beginning of this year the gas price has increased by some 4% and another hike is possible in April.
Despite the latest energy crisis looming after Russia cut gas supplies through Belarus and Roland over a row with Minsk, authorities in Sofia said the energy supplies for Bulgaria are guaranteed.
