Lack of Professionals "May Cost Bulgaria its EU Funds"

Politics » BULGARIA IN EU | December 3, 2006, Sunday // 00:00

Bulgaria may have to return lots of the money received from the EU funds due to the lack of prepared professionals, ethnic Turks leader Ahmed Dogan said.

Dogan returned Sunday from a two-day seminar in which his party Movements for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) discussed how the country would assume EU cash, Darik News reported.

The government has already created the so-called FLAG fund, that will allow municipalities to hire experts who would help in preparing projects that could apply for EU funding. At present all PHARE projects pass through regional councils and newly introduced law changes aim at making those councils more efficient.
