Ten Pollsters to Follow Bulgaria's Election Day

Politics | October 9, 2006, Monday

Ten sociological agencies will follow the events on Election Day, October 22, and prepare exit polls at Bulgaria's presidential poll.

This is the number of pollsters registered by Monday at the Central Electoral Commission, its spokesperson Ralitsa Negentsova announced.

The agencies include GISDI, MBMD, Market Links, NCIOM, Scala, Mediana, Alpha Research, AFIS, Gallup and Sova-5.

Public opinion broadcasting is banned on October 21, the day before general elections, as well as on Election Day while booths are open.

The Central Electoral Commission also banned charts that would use political-party associated songs, flowers, etc. to suggest poll results on polling day.

Tickets of BGN 50 to 2,000 will be imposed on those who break the rule. Deliberate violations would entail BGN 500 to 5,000 fines.
