Bulgaria's candidate for president Volen Siderov vehemently denied reports that supporters of the party have called for the death of current Socialist president Georgi Parvanov.

In a statement, circulated to the media and the Union of Bulgarian Publishers, the presidential candidate pair Volen Siderov and Pavel Shopov express concerns over what they call the distortion of truth.

"There have been no such chanting during the meeting of Siderov and Shopov with voters in the town of Dobrich," the statement comments an article, entitled "Volen's supporters: death for the president."

The nationalists have vowed to sue the authors of the article.

According to latest opinion polls, Volen Siderov is the second-best favourite for the presidency seat after Georgi Parvanov.
