Bulgaria's health fund will cover insured citizens of the country during their trips abroad in case of an emergency up to EUR 2,500.
Those who travel abroad will be able to buy an electronic card from the Health Fund, 24 Hours daily reported. For each traveller, the fund will freeze EUR 2,500 in an account, and they would be on the ready to swiftly cover expenses in case an emergency occurs.
Bulgaria is unable to spare more money, as even this amount is hard to scrape, the Fund's head Rumyana Todorova has told the paper. The same amount will be spared for every foreigner in the country too.
The Fund is yet to clarify with the EU what emergency services would be covered within the EUR 2,500.
