Bulgaria's Ministers Urged to Hire "Disabled Youngsters"

Politics | September 7, 2006, Thursday // 00:00

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev has urged all the ministers to hire disabled young people within their departments.

Labour and Social Policy Minister Emiliya Maslarova boasted Thursday of the PM's recommendation, explaining it was part of a plan for giving equal opportunities to disabled people in Bulgaria.

All ministerial buildings should also be made accessible for everyone, Stanishev has told the Cabinet. The same applies to Public Transport vehicles and about 35% of those will be fitted by the end of the year so that people with disabilities can easily access them.

Education Minister Daniel Valchev has already complied with Stanishev's request and has vowed to have two sight-challenged employees as soon as possible.
