Bulgaria is about to open a colourful craftsmen festival next month, with organizers boasting a notable international interest for the event.

Garbrovo's Etara historical complex will bring together participants from a number of countries, including skilled Origami makers from Japan, and a master in paintings on rocks from Afghanistan.

Weavers, icon-painters, potters, makers of music instruments and of bead accessories will be the among the others to reveal the secrets of their work to visitors, organizers said Wednesday.

The festival will take place over September 1-3.
