Russian Tourists Pester Bulgarians at Seaside, Police Impotent

Bulgarian holidaymakers are lodging complaints against Russian tourists who act violently at the seaside town of Kranevo, but local police just shrugs off, reports say.

Kranevo has always been a preferred destination for groups of Russian students, but this year the guests are out of control, a Bulgarian family told private bTV channel.

Georgi Velev saw his seaside vacation ruined when a glass full of vodka flew out of a second-floor hotel window and landed right in the middle of his car's windshield. When he and his wife attempted to find out the culprit, they saw no cooperation from the hotel owner and police, driving them to look for justice through the media.

The glass couldn't have flown through that window, Zora Hotel's manager claims, contradicting eyewitness accounts, as "all the rooms there are occupied by young girls".

Policemen were straight with the family and told them up front they should drop the case, as the Russian tourists coming to Kranevo knew they wouldn't be charged and acted any way they wanted.
