US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has arrived in Israel, to talk about ending the conflict tearing Lebanon for over two weeks. Rice will then head to Lebanon on Sunday, in a second attempt to restore the peace in the area in just a week. On July 24, the Secretary of State paid a visit to Beirut, but didn't manage to do much. Rice is meeting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to discuss a United Nations Security Council resolution and the possibility of deploying international forces in Israeli-raided Lebanon. Israel has already turned down a suggestion by the UN for a three-day truce that would allow civilians to leave the area. A total of 14 civilians have been killed Saturday by Israeli bombs in Lebanon.
