A historic pub, which was frequented by Yordan Yovkov, one of greatest Bulgarian novelists, has opened doors with fresh outlook.

The Phillips Pub in the village of Krasen, amid the grain-yielding fields of Dobrudzha, has undergone reconstruction under the Beautiful Bulgaria project.

The official opening on Friday was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Ivaylo Kalfin.

It provided the plot for one of the most fascinating stories of Yovkov, The Harvester, and many others.

Yordan Yovkov is a much beloved writer for his absorbing short stories, novels, and dramas. His talent to expose Balkan peasant life and military experiences shows a fine mastery of prose.
