After he became the first person to hold a concert before the European Parliament and was called the greatest envoy of his native Colombia, Latin rock star Juanes will also be decorated with the highest French artistic honor.

The order of knighthood that Juanes will receive on July 19 will be handed to him by the country's Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres. The megastar will be dubbed Knight of Arts and Letters.

The honor comes to Juanes at the height of his sold-out European tour, promoting his newest album Mi Sangre. During his tour, Juanes managed to hold 170 concerts in 31 countries for 19 months. True to his humble nature, Juanes shared that he was surprised to be getting the decoration. "I am just a musician who enjoys what he does, and a Colombian who dreams and fights for peace in his country, nothing more," the star said.

Often compared to Quincey Jones because of his involvement with charity actions, Juanes devoted much of his efforts to clearing Colombia from landmines since the very start of his career.

The hit singer of "A Dios Le Pido" and "La Camisa Negra" has always taken this matter to heart and has thrown several concerts for landmine victims. Landmines have killed more than 4,500, many of them children, in his motherland during the past 15 years.
