Bulgarians joined Sunday 700,000 people in over 100 countries for TNT's global walk against child hunger.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and its partners mobilized hundreds of thousands of people all over the world to walk together in a call for an end to child hunger.

TNT employees, their friends and families walked several kilometres in Vitosha Mountain near Sofia, led by top Bulgarian alpinist Doychin Vassilev.

Bulgaria gathered over EUR 750 from the campaign, which will go to a UN program providing children with healthy meals in their schools.

"The campaign Fight Hunger: Walk the World is about creating a movement to end child hunger," said Arlene Mitchell, Director of Walk the World for WFP. "By engaging citizens from rich and poor countries alike, governments worldwide will heed the call, and will do more to end child hunger. Without citizen action, the status quo will remain. But with it, we can help to end the unnecessary suffering of children."
